~ CONTACT INFORMATION ~ WHAT WHERE WHEN ~ MOOP MAP ~ BLACK ROCK CITY 2007
Hello from the busy Placement Team!
Welcome to Placement-Announcement #2.
These announcements help to answer frequently asked questions and give you and your camp-mates important information for this year's event. Please make sure to pass them along to your group.

ADDING EMAIL ADDRESSES TO THIS LIST
Communication and information-sharing is key to your camp's planning, so be proactive and add the email addresses of some of your key folks to this list. Send your additional email addresses to placement@burningman.com, and remember to include your camp's name in the email.
(these subscription-requests should come only from the main contact-person of your camp)

UPDATING YOUR MAIN-CONTACT INFORMATION
It's important that we have the most current information for the main contact-person of your camp. While working on this year's city layout, we often have questions or need clarification on something in your questionnaire. This could affect your camp's placement, so being able to reach someone is important.
If their phone number or email address is not current, they can update it by logging into http://forms.burningman.com and clicking on "my preferences".

WHAT WHERE WHEN SUBMISSIONS
Want Black Rock City to know about your wonderful parties, events and happenings? Get it into the What Where When booklet today! Just go to our on-line calendar, click on "Playa Events Calendar" and add your blurb on your day:

DO NOT wait until you get your placement information. That won't be until early August. We will add your playa-address later, after we have finished mapping.

MOOP MAP
As your camp's plans are gearing up for this year, we can't emphasize enough the importance of Leave-No-Trace planning. Were you out at the event last year? How did your camp do?

We can all work at doing a better job. Coming up with a committed
daily Leave-No-Trace Plan NOW is as important as anything else you're
planning. It's what we do out there.
Here are some good resources to help in your camp's planning:

It really is required reading for anyone going to Burning Man -- so
please take a look. It can save you (and everyone else) a real
headache once you're out on the playa.
Yes, the Placement Team always takes a camp's Leave-No-Trace
past-history into consideration when we do our mapping! : )

BLACK ROCK CITY DESIGN: 2004 + 2006 = 2007
For the last few years we've experimented with fewer concentric roads and thicker city blocks. This year we're going back to the block dimensions of 2004. Black Rock City 2007 will have a deep, deep esplanade block of 365 feet. Succeeding blocks will all be 170 feet deep. These were the block dimensions in 2004 . . . only this year we're adding more blocks, and more streets.
The general layout, though, will look very much like last year -- with the four plazas (at 3:00, 4:30, 7:30 and 9:00) as well as the main avenues along 4:30 and 7:30. There will again be double-block areas for large theme-camps and villages between "C" and "E" Streets, the same locations as last year.
So, if you can imagine the 2004 Map combined with the 2006 Map, and add a few more blocks and streets (note the "Future Expansion" area on the 2006 map), you've got a pretty good idea of our plans for 2007!
